Welcome to BIOINFORMATICS FOR HEALTH CARE & LIFE SCIENCES: A Short Course

Description
There is a growing need for bioinformatics education of health care providers. This three half-day multi-disciplinary course on bioinformatics is designed primarily for physicians and other researchers in the health sciences. Presented by the Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (CCBB) at Indiana University School of Medicine, this course will cover a broad aspect of bioinformatics, including biological databases, genomics, proteomics, genetics, and chemical biology.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
  • Make informed decisions with regard to bioinformatics-related medical literature;
  • Identify appropriate bioinformatics resources including methodologies and databases when designing a medical study;
  • Communicate with computational biologists and bioinformaticians on a complex medical study that involves bioinformatics;
Accreditation
The Indiana University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Designation
The Indiana University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 10.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
